HPD Officers Injured By Drunk Driver
According to the Houston Police Department, on November 5th around 9:45 p.m., two on-duty officers were injured by a suspected drunk driver while responding to a shooting call in northwest Houston. As the officers proceeded down Bauman Street towards Berry with their emergency lights on, a commercial flat-bed truck suddenly turned in front of them causing the collision to occur. The HPD unit was travelling at a high rate of speed. While the driver of the police car suffered only minor injuries, the officer in the passenger seat was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries including a possible fractured hip. The driver of the commercial truck, who was uninjured in the crash, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of being intoxicated.
